Offroadwars ("we", "us", "our") runs offroadwars.com — a place to document and show off your off-road builds. Here's the plain-English version of what we collect, why, and what say you have over it. No legal jargon maze, we promise.
Information we collect
Account information. When you sign up, we need your email address. Your password never touches our servers directly — that's handled by Amazon Cognito, our authentication provider, using proper industry-standard security. We genuinely don't want to know it.
Sign in with Google / Apple. Prefer not to make up another password? Sign in with Google or Apple instead, and they'll hand us the basics — your name and email — so we can set up your account. Your Google or Apple password stays exactly where it belongs: with Google or Apple.
Profile and build content. Anything you add yourself — username, display name, bio, avatar, social links, and the fun stuff: your rig's year, make, and model, parts list, notes, and photos.
Session data. To keep you logged in without asking for your password every five minutes, we store a session token in your browser's local storage. That's it — no third-party ad trackers riding along.
How we use your information
- To create and secure your account, and let you sign in
- To show off your public build pages and profile to the rest of the community
- To keep the lights on — operate, maintain, and improve the site
What's public
Offroadwars exists so people can show off their builds, so profiles and vehicle pages are public by default — anyone can see them. If there's something you'd rather keep off the internet, just don't post it here.
Who we share information with
We don't sell your personal information — not now, not ever. We use Amazon Web Services (AWS) to host everything and keep your data safe, and if you sign in with Google or Apple, they're involved in verifying it's really you.
Offroadwars is free to use and — like most of the internet — supported by advertising. As we grow, we plan to bring on advertising partners to show ads, and e-commerce partners so you can order parts straight from your build page. When those show up for real, we'll update this page to spell out exactly what they see and how they use it.
Data location
Our servers live on AWS in the United States. If you're joining us from outside the U.S., your information is heading stateside for processing and storage.
Your choices
You can view or update your profile any time through your account. Want us to hand over, fix, or delete your personal information? Email privacy@offroadwars.com and we'll sort it out.
And if you just don't like this policy — no hard feelings, but nobody's forcing you to use Offroadwars. Close the tab any time.
Children's privacy
Offroadwars isn't built for kids under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone that young.
Beyond that, think of Offroadwars as roughly PG-13. Off-road builds, garages, and trail life aren't always squeaky clean, and while we won't allow the obviously terrible stuff, we're not reviewing every photo or post before it goes up. If you're a parent or guardian of a teen using the site, some guidance and involvement is a good idea — same as you'd want for any other corner of the internet.
Changes to this policy
Things change — we'll update this page when they do, and bump the date at the top so you know.
